On June 21, the Orthodox Church celebrates the memorial day of Theodore Stratelos, who gave his life for the Orthodox faith.
Theodore was the patron saint of Orthodox warriors. The people named this day Fyodor Kolodeznik and honored the artisans who built wells on that day.
In the morning, they drew water from the wells. on this day, according to folk beliefs, it had magical and healing powers. In order to bring health, financial well-being and success in business to the house, the floors of the house were covered with fresh water from the well in the morning. Delicious dishes were prepared from the water of the well: cabbage soup, porridge, pies were baked, which were then put on the table.
From this day, the manure began to be moved to the field. And the more family members involved in it, the better. people believed that each helper contributed to a bountiful harvest to satisfy the winter.
On this day you cannot argue, curse, argue or feel negative emotions. You can’t spend the whole day alone, you have to meet up with family, friends or just go for a walk. It is customary to take a steam bath on this day.
If there are thunderstorms on the night of Fyodor, it means that there is a lot of hay, the day will be clear and warm. If the dog does not want to get up from the ground, it means that it will rain.
