Russia has restored Armenia’s rail communication with the outside world

Russian railway workers helped restore railway communication in Armenia. The train traffic in the Ayrum-Sanain section, which was interrupted due to the flood on May 25, is now open. Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk announced this, noting that the decision to support was made by the head of state Vladimir Putin.

“In difficult times, Russia came to the aid of the people of Armenia and restored the railway connection with Georgia, which was destroyed by the disaster, in record time. The only railway connecting Armenia with the outside world is the main channel for the supply of vital goods to the country, and its prolonged disruption can have the most serious negative consequences for providing the population with food and fuel. However, this did not happen because Russia extended a helping hand to the people of Armenia,” Overchuk was quoted as saying by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“The first test train on the restored line left on June 14, which is a week earlier than expected. The railway connection with Georgia, which is important for the people of Armenia, has been unblocked,” said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
