Systemic cyber incidents. ESAs will provide a framework for coordination

The three European supervisory authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA – le They), cone Joint message of 17 July 2024they inform that they will confirm EU Coordination Framework for Systemic Cyber ​​Incidents (EU-SCICF), in the context of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA:)

This coordination framework will facilitate a an effective financial sector response to a cyber incident that poses a threat to financial stability; strengthening coordination between financial bodies with the European Union and other relevant bodies as well as internationally important actors.

In the coming months, the ESAs will begin implementing a systemic cyber incident coordination framework by establishing:

  • ill EU-SCICF Secretariat, which will support the launch of the framework
  • ill Forum UE-SCICFwhich will work to test and mature the operation
  • ill In the EU-SCICF crisis system, which will contribute to the coordination of the actions of the participating authorities during the crisis.

The European Supervisory Authorities will identify the legal and operational obstacles encountered in the initial phase and report them to the European Commission.
