Apple postpones the sale of smartphones with artificial intelligence functions in the EU. This is reported by Apple HAS.
details
Tech giant Apple has announced it will delay sales of its AI-integrated smartphones in the EU due to Digital Marketplace Act (DMA) regulations. The decision follows Apple Intelligence’s announcement in June that OpenAI’s Chatgpt artificial intelligence will be integrated into Apple phones by the end of the year.
EU law imposes obligations on companies with dominant market positions to ensure that their positions are not disproportionately overpowered. Apple has announced its intention to work with the European Commission to find a solution that will allow the introduction of new features without jeopardizing the security of user data.
Apple committed to DMA compliance earlier this year. The commission is expected to announce soon whether Apple’s changes comply with the law. However, Competition Commissioner Margret Vestager has already indicated that Apple’s funds may not be enough.
